The Philadelphia Phillies had a magical ride to the 2022 World Series, eventually losing to the Houston Astros in six games. JT Realmuto was a major factor in why the team made it to the World Series and he helped keep the team afloat during Bryce Harper’s injury. The BBWA NL MVP was awarded to St. Louis Cardinals’ First Baseman Paul Goldschmidt for the 2022 MLB season. JT Realmuto finished 7th in MVP voting behind Goldschmidt (STL), Manny Machado (SD), Nolan Arenado (STL), Freddie Freeman (LAD), Mookie Betts (LAD), and Austin Riley (ATL).

This season with the Phillies, Realmuto solidified himself as the best catcher in baseball with his play in the batter’s box and behind home plate. Realmuto was top 25 in NL rankings in batting average, OPS, slg, home runs, and RBIs. He was also 5th in stolen bases and played 127 more innings than any other catch in the NL.

With Bryce Harper electing to get surgery on his injured right elbow, Realmuto is going to have to step up again to help this team stay in the NL East race. The BCIB while undoubtedly perform and if he keep this team at the top of the NL East, the will be finishing higher than 7th in next year’s MVP Voting.
