Watch: Rangers top prospect Josh Jung homers in first major-league at-bat

On Friday night, Texas Rangers top prospect Josh Jung made his major-league debut after being called up from Triple-A Round Rock earlier in the day.

Batting seventh and playing third base for the Rangers against the Toronto Blue Jays, Jung stepped up to the plate in the bottom of the third inning for his first big-league at-bat.

Trailing in the count 1-2, Jung crushed a changeup from Toronto starter Ross Stripling, depositing it over the left-center field wall at Globe Life Field.

Jung is the sixth player this season to homer in their first major-league at-bat. He joins Miami Marlins' Joe Dunand, Chicago Cubs' Christopher Morel, Los Angeles Dodgers' James Outman, New York Mets' Brett Baty and Cincinnati Reds' Spencer Steer.

The Rangers selected Jung with the eighth overall pick out of Texas Tech in the 2018 amateur draft.

The 24-year-old entered the season with high hopes, but a torn labrum suffered during spring training derailed any chances of making the Rangers' opening day roster.

In 31 games with the Rangers' rookie-ball team and Triple-A affiliate, Jung posted nine home runs and 29 RBI while slashing .266/.326/.540.
